Aerial Shots with the Phantom 3 Advance

Wow, it’s crazy to think that it’s been over a year since my last production project! So to help get things in motion for 2016, I recently purchased a DJI Phantom 3 Advanced drone with a FULL HD video camera on it. I thought this would be a fun way for me to get my feet wet being that I’ve never owned a drone, at least not a legit one like this. Having the ability to capture aerial shots has always been something that I’ve yearned for, so why not make it happen now.

Here are some pictures that I have captured of the sunrise and sunset from Medford, Massachusetts, which is about 5 miles north/ west of Boston. In a few of the photographs that I took, you can actually see some of the Boston skyscrapers like the Prudential and the John Hancock Building.

Thus far, I’m pretty satisfied with this bad boy. The quality of the camera is good, not the best, but for the price and the ability to get these shots, I don’t think you can beat it. At the moment I am in the process of doing some research on various filters that I could attach to it, but even with the basic lens that DJI supplies, I’m a fan. And I do have some video footage that I have also taken but haven’t gotten around to editing  yet. For now, enjoy these shots from my first 3 test flights.

Kendrick Lamar, When He Was Blowing Up

I was there to document the first time Kendrick Lamar performed in Massachusetts – it was in Cambridge at the Middle East back in 2011. The big homie Leedz of Leedz Edutainment brought him to town for a performance over at The Middle East in Central Square. As you will see in the video, even back then Kendrick was able to get the crowd amp’d. Now here we are 5 years later and he has people going crazy over his 2016 Grammy performance of “The Blacker the Berry” and “Alright.” I’m glad I was there to capture him during the early stages of the greatness that we are still witnessing today. So get a glimpse of Kendrick Lamar before he blew up into the internationally known rapper that we currently know of.

James Edwards, ‘The Forgotten Pioneer’ Short Documentary

Easily one of my favorite projects to date, this short documentary is on the black actor, James Edwards. Most likely you aren’t familiar with him, which is why you should press play and quickly learn a thing or two. After all, if it wasn’t for him there would be no Denzel Washington, Jamie Foxx, Michael B. Jordan, Morgan Freeman, Will Smith, Samuel Jackson, James Earl Jones or Tyler James Williams among hundreds of other black actors that we know of today.

Bates College Track and Field

During my first semester back at Bates College, it was only natural for me to have the camera rolling even when I was on the track… at least during the indoor season while I was still getting my groove back.

CBS MaxPreps ‘Early Contenders’ Girls Soccer

This summer MaxPreps has decided to do an Early Contenders segment that focuses on some of the best teams to watch for during the 2013 high school soccer season. Presented by Adidas and Dick’s Sporting Goods, I traveled down to Connecticut to meet with the Glastonbury girls soccer team as they were getting their photos taken~

Small Business Commercial

After one successful project, I was once again hired to co-produce a commercial for Sam White and Sons Inc. earlier this month. They wanted something that would visually appeal to both homeowners and landscape/ construction companies. They provided me with all of the video footage.

Beantown Photography

Here are some photos of the city Boston, Massachusetts from March 12th, 2011 that I took and edited. One aspect of photography that I love is the simple concept of a specific moment being captured. Unlike video which is based on multiple moments or a period of time, photography is basically the foundation of video and it truly allows you to enjoy that specific moment in time. I know video is my thing and all, but I love photography too!

Nike 5 Days 2 Friday with MaxPreps at DeMatha High School

While working with CBS MaxPreps and NIKE on the 5 Days 2 Friday project, I spent a week in Hyattsville, Maryland with the DeMatha High School football team. Alongside Casey Littlejohn and a few other NIKE guys, we knew they were good but they really brought it to St. John’s during their game that weekend. Despite the rainy conditions we were there and loving it!
